Mississippi has life without parole.  A jury decides the sentence.   The Governor has sole clemency authority. The State Parole Board has the responsibility to investigate clemency recommendations at the request of the Governor.

As of September 2012, Mississippi has had 53 executions since reinstating the death penalty and no clemencies.
